BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS
The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Opportunity Task Force Report confirmed that mentoring plays a key role in the success of children in our community, especially at young ages. It is estimated that nearly 20,000 children in Mecklenburg County would benefit from the one-to-one mentoring. BBBS is excited to be part of the solution to improving economic mobility for children who grow up in challenging circumstances.
- BBBS MENTORSHIP: BBBS's Community-Based Mentorship Program focuses on Bigs and Littles building a relationship outside of school. Bigs and Littles engage in whatever sorts of outings and activities they enjoy doing together. Some Bigs meet their Littles on the weekends, others get together after school or in the early evening. BBBS facilitates the initial relationship between Bigs and Littles and their families and serves as an ongoing support. BBBS also sponsors several monthly activities for Littles and Bigs to attend!
