Every other Friday we take a moment to introduce you to someone in our community who serves in one or more of Watershed's many volunteer areas: GreenHouse/Shed Students, Sunday Teams, Catapult, Bloc Leading, etc. The featured volunteer will then select someone he/she would like to see highlighted next.
This week, meet Mark!
Kindred Bloc, Production/Media Team
Why did you choose to volunteer in your area(s)?
It was a long-time goal to give a voice to our LGBTQ community within our church community and we were able to begin doing that two years ago through Kindred. As for the Production Team... when you work the slides and cameras, Scott and Matt answer to you! :)
What has been one of your favorite moments as a volunteer?
August 2018 will be our second year for Kindred to have a booth at the Charlotte Pride Festival representing Watershed. While I am extremely proud to give our LGBTQ community a voice in our church community, it is even more meaningful when I get to reverse that and take our church community to our LGBTQ community. After years of struggling with acceptance and faith, it's an awesome thing to be able to share the message of God's love from Watershed's unique perspective and tell others, who may have the same struggles, about our open, accepting, and loving church community.
If you could use only one word to describe our Watershed community, what would it be?
Describe your perfect day in Charlotte:
Tailgating for a Panthers game on a Fall day with my spouse Oliver and good friends along with mimosas, local brews, and cooking out.
NEXT I'D LIKE WATERSHED TO FEATURE DAVID AVALOS... BECAUSE THIS SHOULD NOT END UNTIL EVERYONE IN GREENHOUSE IS FEATURED!
