Every other Friday we take a moment to introduce you to someone in our community who serves in one or more of Watershed's many volunteer areas: GreenHouse/Shed Students, Sunday Teams, Catapult, Bloc Leading, etc. The featured volunteer will then select someone he/she would like to see highlighted next.
This week, meet Jeffrey!
Greenhouse Maples Teacher
Why did you choose to volunteer in your area(s)?
I began volunteering at Watershed with the Cafe Team over at our Plaza Midwood location, shortly after I joined “Diggers”. I think my original reason for taking part in these areas was to break out of my shell and try to get to know more folks within the Watershed Community. I tend to be a bit socially introverted and thought this would be the easiest way to do so.
What has been one of your favorite moments as a volunteer?
I think my favorite moments being a Greenhouse Volunteer have been just watching the children grow. I’ve hopped around the rooms and cared for two year old’s all the way up to five year olds. I have also been surprised to have parents recognize me and tell me stories of their children mentioning me and other volunteers during their week away from the church. I often see some of our kids while I’m at work, since I’m in a mall all day, and it’s a great feeling when the family recognizes you and stops for a chat and a hug.
If you could use only one word to describe our Watershed community, what would it be?
Describe your perfect day in Charlotte:
The perfect day in Charlotte is waking up late, going out for brunch and finding a movie theater to watch a film with a close friend or love ones.
NEXT I'D LIKE WATERSHED TO FEATURE OLIVER MANALAC WHO SERVES ON THE PRODUCTION TEAM!
