Every other Tuesday, we take a moment to introduce you to someone in our community who serves in one or more of Watershed's many volunteer areas: GreenHouse/Shed Students, Sunday Teams, Catapult, Bloc Leading, etc. The featured volunteer will then select someone he/she would like to see highlighted next.
This week, meet Rob!
Middle School bloc
Why did you choose to volunteer in your area(s)?
I started because Matt said he thought I'd be a good fit. I have done a few trips working with kids in a village in Kenya. I thought he was crazy and that I wouldn't like American kids. Turns out our kids are just as awesome as African kids.
What has been one of your favorite moments as a volunteer?
I can't narrow down one favorite moment. I love the honesty and the excitement of the kids in middle school. I remember those years being tough for me. They give some of the most unexpected and thoughtful, witty and empathetic contributions to conversations on a regular basis that helps me know the future is going to be ok with people like them living in it.
If you could use only one word to describe our Watershed community, what would it be?
Describe your perfect day in Charlotte:
Perfect day in Charlotte: sleep in, coffee at Amelie's, drive to my brother's uptown, pick him and his wife up, swing by and pick up my sister and her wife and my nieces, then caravan with some friends to the lake. Boat all day. Bonfire night. Good food. Good music. Chill vibes & lots of love.
NEXT I'D LIKE WATERSHED TO FEATURE CAS SNETHEN because…
he and his wife are rockstars in MSB with us.
