Every other Tuesday, we take a moment to introduce you to someone in our community who serves in one or more of Watershed's many volunteer areas: GreenHouse/Shed Students, Sunday Teams, Catapult, Bloc Leading, etc. The featured volunteer will then select someone he/she would like to see highlighted next.
This week, meet Cas!
MSB and co-bloc leader with my wife and another couple of a relationality bloc.
Why did you choose to volunteer in your area(s)?
My wife and I volunteered in the summer of 2018 and never looked back. Shortly after our summer stint we spoke with David about becoming MSB leaders. It has been a great pleasure working with each of our MSB kiddos.
What has been one of your favorite moments as a volunteer?
One of my favorite moments was taking all of our students to the ice skating rink in Uptown this past winter. It was great seeing all of our kids in their element of just having fun, laughing, and taking some vicious but non-harmful spills on the ice. The way they handled themselves in public was truly a testament to the parents and "village" that raises each of our MSB students.
If you could use only one word to describe our Watershed community, what would it be?
If I had to pick one word to describe our Watershed community, it would be "love.” No matter where you go in the community, there is a sense of love surrounding each encounter. Watershed has truly felt like a family.
Describe your perfect day in Charlotte: My perfect day in Charlotte has changed A LOT since the birth of my daughter, Kennedy. What used to be heading to breweries, food truck Fridays, pool parties, and last minute hiking adventures is now filled with heading home after work to my wife and child and just spending quality time with each of them. Right now my perfect day is filled with family and friends and our new addition in the small moments of life.
NEXT I'D LIKE WATERSHED TO FEATURE CHRISTINA SNETHEN because…
she volunteers in the same capacity as myself and is such a blessing to my life and countless others.
