Every other Tuesday, we take a moment to introduce you to someone in our community who serves in one or more of Watershed's many volunteer areas: GreenHouse/Shed StudentsSunday TeamsCatapultBloc Leading, etc. The featured volunteer will then select someone he/she would like to see highlighted next.

This week, meet Christina!

Volunteer Area(s):

Middle School Bloc, Greenhouse Summer Takeover

Why did you choose to volunteer in your area(s)?

At my previous church, I was a youth group leader. When we moved and joined Watershed, there was something missing for me! It was the interaction with the youth. I knew I needed to get this piece of the church back in my life to feel complete and satisfied at Watershed. So as soon as the opportunity presented itself, I jumped on the volunteer train :)

What has been one of your favorite moments as a volunteer?

One of my favorite moments as a volunteer was with our Middle School Bloc girls. I was still very new as a leader and we planned a night of ice cream and coffee with just the girls. It allowed me time to get to know some of the middle school girls before I dove in as a volunteer. It was awesome to see how independent the group was on their own interacting with one another and just hanging out and chatting at the coffee shop. They are a wonderful group of girls - super cool and extremely well behaved.

If you could use only one word to describe our Watershed community, what would it be?

Homegrown = we do it our own way in the most organic way possible.

Describe your perfect day in Charlotte: Church at Watershed, brunch at Zada James outside, beers at Wooden Robot, and late afternoon River Jam at Whitewater Center.
