Every other Tuesday, we take a moment to introduce you to someone in our community who serves in one or more of Watershed's many volunteer areas: GreenHouse/Shed Students, Sunday Teams, Catapult, Bloc Leading, etc. The featured volunteer will then select someone he/she would like to see highlighted next.
This week, meet Rich!
ONE bloc co-leader with my wife Jenny, train bloc leaders, part of the Lead Team.
Why did you choose to volunteer in your area(s)?
We knew that leading a bloc would give us a chance to get to know other Watershed members and we also wanted to build deep relationships with others.
What has been one of your favorite moments as a volunteer?
One night, we took some Roots bloc members to clean the playground at the Charlotte Bilingual Preschool. The staff got us all the necessary equipment - rakes, leaf blowers, brooms, bags, and….spot lights! We were doing this in the dark of night, but it turned out to be a fun night, and we got the entire playground to look like new!
If you could use only one word to describe our Watershed community, what would it be?
Describe your perfect day in Charlotte:
An early yoga session followed by a pancake breakfast with our girls, brunch at 7th Street Market, a soccer game in the afternoon, a walk at Freedom Park, and end the night with friends grilling and hanging out by the fire.
NEXT I'D LIKE WATERSHED TO FEATURE JUSTIN BURNETT because…
He’s just a goofy guy who makes little kids laugh!
