Financial Peace University
If you had to describe your financial reality, what sort of language would you use? Would your description use terms like freedom, peaceful, abundant, generous and wise? If so, then you are the exception and not the norm by U.S. standards!
Most Americans live paycheck to paycheck, buried under what feels like a life sentence of being shackled to an immovable boulder. Debt weighs you down in your spirit, in your marriage, in your ability to navigate the future and in your ability to be generous towards movements or initiatives you long to support. Hence your financial language can't include a vocabulary of freedom, flexibility or peace.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. What would you do if you knew there was a way forward into financial freedom and vitality? What would you do if you discovered how to break unhealthy habits and embrace practices that would not only unlock the shackles, but unleash your life in a way that would allow your resources to impact the lives of people you so love and want to support?
This is the objective, philosophy and goal of Financial Peace University (FPU). FPU is the brain child of New York Times best-selling author Dave Ramsey. Through books, podcasts and FPU, Ramsey and his organization have committed themselves for decades to helping people take back their lives, become financially healthy and maximize their potential to be conduits of generosity and compassion to a hurting world.
Watershed is excited to host multiple FPU classes throughout the calendar year. In FPU you’ll learn seven easy-to-follow baby steps to create a budget, get out of debt, and make a plan for your money! Our next round of FPU will begin in early 2019.

How long does the course last and what are the dates and times?
FPU generally runs for nine consecutive Monday evenings from 6:30-8:30PM. Dates for the next session are TBD early 2019.
Is there a cost to take the course?
The cost for the materials included in this course is $109.00. Couples can share a kit.
$109 is pretty steep. Did Watershed set this price?
The cost for the materials is set by the Dave Ramsey organization. Watershed is offers a $20.00 rebate to members of our community who complete at least seven out of nine of the course sessions. We're also offering free childcare. When you’re strapped financially, it makes sense that $109 might feel steep, but experience has taught us that when someone becomes serious enough to commit resources towards becoming healthy, they will also take more seriously the class, the steps and the discipline necessary to become free.

Is there free child care for this class?
Yes. But we will need to know in advance week-to-week if your child(en) will be in attendance.
Is there a reason Watershed chose this particular class to host?
While there are a multitude of courses and approaches to becoming financially healthy, we chose this course because of first-hand knowledge of redemptive stories from several of our staff, leaders and community members who have benefited greatly by applying the principles this course presents.
